I have taught mathematics for eight years, starting at Carbon County. When I was there, I completed my master's and worked on an action research project using gamification. The system was so effective that I have used it ever since. I am currently working on a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education, where I have learned a great deal about mathematics education and education as a whole. Working with the other mathematics teachers in my program and learning of their ideas and experiences has been very meaningful.
In the last year, I have taken part in nearly half of the coursework necessary for a Ph.D. as well as teaching student teachers. I taught Mathematics Methods I and II in the fall and have been observing my students in the field this semester. It has been a pleasure to have the opportunity to pass on my expertise and be part of training other teachers.
I have written a book review about a mathematics department who eradicated their tracking program. I have upcoming publications on the use of technology in secondary methods courses, the importance of mathematically precise language, and the tenets of gamification.
