Colleen Burridge

Colleen has been a social studies teacher for more than 35 years. She has had experience ranging from elementary through high school levels. Although she is primarily a secondary social studies teacher, her passion and experience primarily lie in offering integrated, meaningful learning experiences and she has been an advocate for problem based learning for more than 20 years.   She and a team of teachers in Natrona County were recipients of the Wyoming Innovative Education Grant program for the 2018-19 school year.  The grant was awarded to these teachers in order to evaluate the effectiveness of introducing students to computer science principles that are applicable in multiple core subject areas.  The purpose of the grant was twofold.  One goal was to create modules in core area classes that were appropriate to the curriculum in that class and could be documented in a way that could be replicated by other teachers around the state.  The other purpose was to provide opportunities for students to experience introductory coding and see the relevance of coding in multiple disciplines.
